Daddy's Hand

Reaching up to hold his hand,
all five fingers there I'd stand,
Proud as I could be,
Because my Daddy smiled at me.

Little hugs and kisses,
making birthday wishes,
flowers in my hair.
Evening walks and Sunday drives,
riding rides at fairs.

Holding on to Daddy's hand,
all five fingers there I'd stand,
Proud as I could be,
Because my Daddy smiled at me.

Butterfly kisses and bee stings,
Lil dresses and bows,
pushes on park swings,
sand between my toes.

Holding on to Daddy's hand,
all five fingers there I'd stand,
Proud as I could be,
Because my Daddy smiled at me.

Little giggles, making jokes
laughing,running,little pokes,
Having such a blast.
Getting tickled with himself,
because he got me last.

Holding on to Daddy's hand,
all five fingers there I'd stand,
Proud as I could be,
Because my Daddy smiled at me.

Down the aisle in my white dress,
side by side we stand.
Daddy in his very best,
walking hand in hand.

In front of all the Church,
for everyone to see.
My Daddy gave my hand away,
to the one who married me.

Holding on to my Husband's hand
all five fingers there I stand,
Proud as I could be,
Because my Daddy smiled at me.

Having children of my own
I finally understand,
why my Daddy smiled so much
when I held his hand.

Although he was my Daddy
and I was proud as I could be,
you see I was his little girl
and he was proud of me.

It took a little growing up
and years to understand
but I'm so proud I was
the one,

To hold my Daddy's hand.
